And then Gaumukh is there at 4 km. Gaumukh means Gau: Cow and Mukh: Mouth… Cow’s Mouth, the origin of river Ganga and here it is known as Bhagirathi and become Ganga at Devprayag when it meets to river Alaknanda. Gaumukh is also base of Mt Shivling peak one of the enchanted peaks of northern India. Gaumukh or Gangotri Glacier is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site and also the largest glacier in the Himalayan range.
Tapovan is the next spot to be explored at a distance of 4 km, situated above the Gangotri Glacier, the ultimate place for adventure enthusiasts.
It will be more pleasuring (if stamina allowed) to explore Nandanvan and Vasu ki Tal. A blue mountain goat (Bharal) may be seen here. Trail, forest, snow, sunshine, deer, wild goat, and giant view of a peak like Mt Shivling Mt Bhagirathi Mt Meru is a splendid experience.
